Why?

This year, as is the case every two years, voters decide who has the majority in both chambers of Congress. In 2022, that means the candidates voters choose in the November 8 elections will determine, to a large degree, whether our current seated President can get new policies passed easily or if Republicans will gain the ability to control new policy.

All 435 seats in the House of Representatives are on the ballot, as well as 35 Senate seats. (House seats are up every two years, while Senate seats are up every six.)

Democrats maintained a majority in the U.S. House, winning 222 seats to Republicans' 213. As of September 30, 2022, Democrats hold a 220-212 advantage in the U.S. House with three vacancies. Republicans need to gain a net of six districts to win a majority in the chamber.

The House votes on bills proposed to solve everyday issues such as Climate Changes Initiatives, Health Care, Inflation reduction and income tax.

If that wasn't enough cause to vote, there is more!

Key state-level offices are also on the ballot in dozens of states, including governors, secretaries of state, judicial positions and attorneys general, along with members of the legislature. At least 12 gubernatorial seats could flip parties — including Massachusetts, Maryland, and Arizona. The winners of those ballots will affect state policies.

There is still more; every ballot will have additional people, issues and goals to vote on down to the district you live in.

Seats such as your local city counsel, local budget use, property tax levy, school board elections; just to name a few.

Find out what resonates with you most! The Democratic Party and the Republican Party are the most common but there are other parties growing in popularity. The Libertarian Party has members in the State Legislatures. The Green Party has been growing across the US with ballot access in over 19 states. Check them all out, you have Google at your fingertips.
